Admission Arrangements

Welcome to the admissions section of Roughwood Primary School. We understand that choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. Here, you will find all the necessary information regarding our admission process for all age groups, including Nursery (F1), Reception (FS2), and in-year admissions. Please read through the relevant sections carefully.

Applying for 2s Provision & Nursery (Foundation Stage 1)

Obtain Application Form: Please collect an application form directly from the school office.
Complete & Submit: Fill out the form completely and return it to the school office. You must also submit a copy of your child’s birth certificate with the application.
Start Date: Children will be admitted into 2s Provision or F1 the term following their birthday.

Applications for 2s Provision and F1 are handled directly by Roughwood Primary School.

Applying for Reception (Foundation Stage 2 – FS2) & In-Year Admissions

Who this is for:

Children starting school in Reception (FS2) at the beginning of the academic year in which they turn 5 (starting in September).
Children transferring to Roughwood Primary School during the academic year (in-year admissions) for any year group (FS2 to Year 6).

Important: There is no automatic transfer from Nursery (F1) to Reception (FS2). A separate application must be made for a Reception place.

Application Process (Step-by-Step):

Visit Rotherham Council Website: All applications for Reception (FS2) and in-year admissions are managed by the Rotherham Local Authority (LA). Please visit the Rotherham Council School Admissions Website.
Complete Online Application: Follow the instructions on the Rotherham Council website to complete and submit your online application form.
Offer of Place: The Local Authority will notify you directly regarding the outcome of your application.

Admissions Authority: The Rotherham School Admissions Team is the admissions authority for these applications.

Published Admissions Number (PAN): Roughwood Primary School has a Published Admissions Number (PAN) of 45 places for each year group.

Appeals Process

Unsuccessful Applications: If your child is not allocated a place at Roughwood Primary School because the school is full, you have the right to appeal this decision.
